With effect from 1st July 2016, the operations of Generali Pilipinas Life Assurance Company, Inc. (GPLAC) have been reorganized.

GPLAC has been renamed BDO Life Assurance Company, Inc. (BDO Life)1 while Generali Pilipinas Insurance Company, Inc. (GPIC) has been renamed Generali Life Assurance Philippines Inc. (Generali Philippines)2.

All existing individual life policies written by GPLAC prior to 1st July, 2016 including the BDO Mortgage Redemption Insurance (MRI) Program will continue to be serviced by BDO Life.

All existing group business including Employee Benefits coverage (Life & Health) written by GPLAC prior to 1st July will continue to be serviced by Generali Life Philippines.

There will be no impact on the terms and conditions of all existing policies.

Mr. John Spence is an experienced leader in insurance and asset management. He is currently the Regional Head of Generali Asia where he is responsible for formulating and executing mergers and acquisitions, fostering strategic alliances and partnerships and leading regional corporate development initiatives to achieve Generali’s ambitious growth targets in Asia. Prior to that, Mr. Spence served as the Managing Director in Asian Capital Advisors from 2012-2014. Asian Capital Advisors is a boutique strategic advisory services firm focused on cross border insurance and asset management transactions both into and from Asia, including merger and acquisitions, strategic alliances, investment stakes and distribution partnerships.


Mr. Reynaldo Centeno is the President and CEO of Generali Life Assurance Philippines, Inc. He occupied senior management positions and/or directorships in various companies involved in life insurance, non-life insurance, pre-need, HMO, mutual funds, credit card, savings bank and property management. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, Fellow of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines, Fellow of the Life Management Institute and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.


Ms. Maria Sharon Maranan is the Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Life Business of Generali Life Assurance Philippines, Inc. She has over 30 years of experience in individual and corporate life insurance having occupied various management roles in sales, operations, actuarial, underwriting, finance, IT and process management. She started her career in the actuarial field and was formerly the Chief Actuary of Generali Pilipinas Life Assurance Company. She is a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines.

ATTY. ISAGANI CRUZ, JR. (Independent Director)

Atty. Isagani Cruz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of the Philippines. He later pursued a law degree from the University’s College of Law and was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1990. Atty. Cruz served as General Counsel at the Philippine American Life and General Insurance Company until June 2015 where he was responsible for providing analyses and counsel on strategic legal, policy, and regulatory issues.

ALOYSIUS B. COLAYCO (Independent Director)

Mr. Aloysius B. Colayco was appointed to the advisory board of JGSHI in August 2001 and is presently the Country Chairman for the Jardine Matheson Group in the Philippines. He is also Managing Director of Argosy Partners, a private equity firm. He is the Chairman of Republic Cement and Colliers Philippines. Previously, Mr. Colayco was President of AIG Investment Corporation in New York, the AIG subsidiary responsible for managing the Group's investment portfolios outside the US (primarily Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa).
